Quote of the Week on Mr. Gaffney

We continue to hear great comments from people involved in different aspects of the sports industry regarding Tony Gaffney. The latest is from David Thorpe, an NBA analyst for ESPN the Insider:

"If he's not an NBA player I might just quit and become a shepherd. He's almost Tyrus-like as an athlete with a 7'2" wingspan with skills and a super hot motor that never stops."

Tony Gaffney is a 6'8", 210 lb. Sr. at UMass whose honors include 2009 Defensive Player of the Year Award for the Atlantic 10 conference. Named to Atlantic 10 All-League Team (2nd team) and A-10 All-Defensive Team. Ranked 3rd in NCAA in blocks (3.8) and 17th in rebounds (10.2). Led A-10 conference in blocks, second in rebounds, second in steals. Averaged a double-double for his final season - 11.5 points and 10.2 rebounds in 33.9 minutes per game with 3.8 blocks and 2.03 steals per game. He is the 1st player in NCAA since 1996-97 with 100 blocks and 50 steals in a season. Named MVP for UMass and finished with a double-double in his last college game giving him 12 for his career.
